General Questions

New to virtual neurology? See our services, pricing, or book an appointment. Common starting points: headache & migraine care and seizure & epilepsy care.

Virtual neurology is the delivery of neurological care through secure, real-time video visits with a board-certified neurologist. From the comfort of your home, you can receive expert evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and ongoing follow-up for a wide range of neurological conditions — all without traveling to a clinic.

Many neurological conditions are well-suited to virtual care, including but not limited to:

  • Headaches and migraines
  • Seizures and epilepsy
  • Neuropathy (numbness, tingling, nerve pain)
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Movement disorders (tremor, Parkinson's disease)
  • Memory and cognitive concerns
  • Dizziness and vertigo
  • Sleep disorders (insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome)
  • Concussion and post-concussion syndrome
  • Neuromuscular conditions
  • Stroke follow-up and prevention

  • Convenience and accessibility. You can see a specialist from home, eliminating travel time, parking, and time away from work or family. This is especially valuable for patients in rural or underserved areas where neurologists may be scarce.
  • Shorter wait times. Virtual clinics often offer faster appointment availability compared to traditional in-person neurology practices, where wait times can stretch weeks to months.
  • Continuity of care. Secure messaging and easy scheduling make it simple to stay connected with your neurologist between visits, supporting better long-term management of chronic conditions.
  • Comfort and reduced stress. Being evaluated in your own environment can reduce anxiety and allow your neurologist to observe you in a more natural setting.
  • Multi-state access. Our practice is licensed in multiple states, so you can continue care even if you travel or relocate within our service area.

  • Physical examination. Certain parts of the neurological exam — such as testing reflexes, muscle tone, coordination, and gait — can be adapted for video but may not be as detailed as an in-person exam. In some cases, an in-person evaluation may be recommended.
  • Emergencies. Virtual visits are not appropriate for medical emergencies. If you are experiencing symptoms such as sudden severe headache, sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, difficulty speaking, loss of consciousness, or seizures that do not stop, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
  • Procedures. Certain treatments such as Botox injections, nerve blocks, lumbar punctures, or infusion therapies cannot be performed virtually and will require referral to a local provider.
  • Diagnostic testing. While we can order and interpret tests such as MRIs, blood work, EEGs, and nerve studies, the tests themselves must be performed at a local facility. We will help coordinate this for you.
  • Technology requirements. You will need a device with a camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, or computer) and a stable internet connection.

Getting Started

To make the most of your initial consultation, please have the following available:

  • A list of your current medications and dosages
  • A summary of your medical history and any prior neurological evaluations
  • Any relevant medical records, imaging reports, or lab results (these can be uploaded through Healthie)
  • A list of your symptoms, including when they started and how they have changed
  • Your pharmacy name and address
  • A valid photo ID

If you have any questions not covered here, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team. We look forward to caring for you.

Service Area

We are currently licensed to see patients located in the following states:

  • Arizona (AZ)
  • California (CA)
  • Colorado (CO)
  • Idaho (ID)
  • Illinois (IL)
  • Nebraska (NE)
  • Pennsylvania (PA)
  • Texas (TX)
  • Utah (UT)
  • Washington (WA)

You must be physically located in one of these states at the time of your appointment.

You do not need to be a permanent resident, but you must be physically present in one of the listed states during your video visit. This is a requirement of state medical licensing laws.

Appointments & Scheduling

No referral is needed. You can schedule an appointment directly with us. Whether you are seeking a second opinion, a new evaluation, or ongoing management, you are welcome to book without a referral from another provider.

Appointments can be scheduled through our patient portal, powered by Healthie. You can also contact us by phone or email to book your visit. New patients will be asked to complete intake forms through the portal prior to their first appointment.

We understand that plans change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

SituationCharge
No-show (missed without notice)Full visit fee
Late cancellation or reschedule (within 24 hours)50% of visit fee
Cancellation or reschedule (more than 24 hours' notice)No charge

We encourage you to provide as much notice as possible so we can offer your time slot to another patient.

Appointment length varies depending on the visit type. Initial consultations are typically longer to allow for a thorough history and evaluation. Follow-up visits are generally shorter. Specific appointment durations will be communicated at the time of scheduling.

Billing & Insurance

We are a direct-pay (self-pay) practice and do not bill insurance companies. Payment is collected directly from the patient at the time of service. This model allows us to spend more time with you, reduce administrative barriers, and offer greater scheduling flexibility.

After each visit, we provide a superbill — a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network reimbursement claim. You can submit this superbill to your insurance company to request partial or full reimbursement, depending on your plan's out-of-network benefits.

We recommend contacting your insurance company before your visit to ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for specialist visits?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible?
  • What percentage of the visit fee will be reimbursed?

Payment details and accepted methods will be provided at the time of scheduling. Payment is due at the time of your appointment.

Yes. Our visit fees are transparent and will be provided to you before you book your appointment. There are no surprise charges.

Testing, Labs & Prescriptions

Yes. If your evaluation requires diagnostic testing — such as blood work, MRI, CT scan, EEG, EMG/nerve conduction studies, or sleep studies — we will order these for you. We work to coordinate testing at a facility local to you and, whenever possible, arrange for the testing to be processed through your insurance to minimize your out-of-pocket costs.

After your visit, our team will identify an appropriate facility near you for the ordered test. If you have insurance, we will direct orders to in-network facilities when feasible so that the testing itself may be covered by your plan. You are also welcome to let us know if you have a preferred lab or imaging center.

Yes. Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, wherever you are located within our service area. Please have your preferred pharmacy information available at the time of your visit.

Most neurological medications can be prescribed through a virtual visit. However, certain controlled substances may have additional prescribing requirements that vary by state. Your neurologist will discuss any limitations with you and help identify the best treatment plan.
